Day 1: Arrive Cairo ‘Welcome to Egypt’

Upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met by your Memphis Tours Representative who will accompany you to your hotel in Cairo for check-in and a free welcome drink. There you will be introduced to your Tour Manager for the trip, who will explain what to expect on your visit and will be your point of contact throughout your Cairo and Dahabiya Nile Cruise tour. He and will give you details of how to contact him at any time whilst in Egypt under the care of Memphis Tours. Throughout your Agatha Christie Tour Egypt, in addition to the Tour Manager you will meet a variety of English-speaking Tour Guides, who have been chosen for their expertise on each of the areas you are visiting. After check-in you are free to spend the rest of the day/evening at your leisure. There is a wonderful opportunity to do an optional excursion to the Sound & Light Show on Giza Plateau, by the magnificent Pyramids.

Day 2: Pyramids and Cairo Tours

Pick you up from your hotel in Cairo by air-conditioned mini bus where you will be accompanied by your personal Egyptologist Tour Guide to visit the famous Giza Plateau, home of Egypt’s greatest attractions the Great Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World including the Great Pyramid of Cheops, Middle Pyramids of Chephren smallest Pyramid of Mykerinos and the Mysterious Sphinx, the Father of Terror to the ancient Pharaohs.The tour includes visit to the Valley Temple facing the great Sphinx. On the way you will have Lunch, then enjoy a visit to the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiques built in neo-classical style designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon which exhibits a collection now of over 120000 masterpieces ranging from Pre-Dynastic era, Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period in Egypt, learn and discover the great Egyptian civilization and art of mummification in ancient Egypt. Moving on to visit the Christian heritage in Coptic Cairo including some of the early religious monuments of the city such as the Hanging Church or the Suspended Church, this Basilica Church was named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon The Church became the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt Afterwards an enjoyable afternoon of shopping at the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar and Old Market in Cairo.Finally back to the Hotel in Cairo for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Fly Cairo to Luxor - Dahabiya Nile Cruise

In the morning Memphis Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo by air conditioned private vehicle to Cairo Domestic Airport to fly to Luxor where you will be met and accompanied by our Egyptologist tour guide in a private air-conditioned deluxe vehicle to visit the East Bank of Luxor to the magnificent and impressive famous Temple of Karnak, the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means “the most sacred of places.” The Temple, or, more correctly, the complex of Temples, was built over more than two thousand years by generation after generation of Pharaohs. Within the complex, the great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars.Your Tour Guide will then take you to the West Bank of Luxor, the site of the two colossal statues of Amenhotep known as the Colossi of Memnon, and then visit the Valley of the Kings, where the magnificent tombs were discovered, including the boy King Tutankhamun. These tombs were carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the Pharaohs. You will visit 3 tombs (The three tombs visited are determined by the Egyptian Government as to preserve them from the large flow of visitors, therefore are rotated throughout the year and cannot be confirmed as to which tombs prior to your visit), then continue the tour to visit Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary. This impressive Temple is dedicated to the Queen Hatshepsut the only female Pharaoh rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs. After your day tour, you will be escorted to Esna (50km south of Luxor), home port of the Dahabiya for Embarkation on the Dahabiya for a 5-day cruise along the Nile between Esna and Aswan. Overnight close to El Hegz Island.

Day 4: Dahabiya Sailing to Edfu Temple

Enjoy breakfast on board the Dahabeya Nile boat while sailing towards Edfu. Arrive at Edfu,115 kilometers south of Luxor and leave your Nile boat for a gentile horse carriage ride to the Temple of Horus in Edfu, the best preserved Ptolemaic Temple in Egypt. The structure was constructed by Ptolemy III in 237 BC and it was completed during the reign of Ptolemy XII in the 1st century BC. The temple is actually a wonderful copy of much ancient Pharaonic temples and it is in a wonderfully preserved state. Our next visit will be to the souk or market of Edfu where the guests will have a chance to buy gifts, souvenirs, and everything that Egyptian shops have to offer.In the evening we reach the Speos of Hormoheb, the last king of the 18th dynasty of the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt. This chapel that was cut into the rocks contains many wall reliefs, statues, and scenes of the Hormoheb and the god Amun. We will land in front of the Speos of Hormoheb. With the lighted temple in front of the Dahabiya, you will have dinner while listening to the most wonderful and entertaining music. Overnight in the Dahabeya.

Day 5: Kom Ombo Temple - Dahabiya Sailing to Aswan

This morning you will enjoy sailing from Edfu towards Kom Ombo to visit the Temple of Sobek in Kom Ombo This marvelous Greco Roman Temple is quite symmetrical in everything. Being dedicated to the two Gods; the falcon God, Haroeris, and the Crocodile God, Sobek, the Temple has two entrances, two halls, and two sanctuaries. The Temple was initially under construction at the beginning of the 3rd century BC and was finally completed by the Roman emperor, Augustus, in the year 30 AD. You will then dock at one of the small magical islands in the River Nile to have dinner in a nice location close to the entrance to Aswan city. Overnight in the Dahabeya.

Day 6: Dahabiya Nile Cruise - Aswan Sightseeing

Sail to Aswan to enjoy the highlights in Aswan such as the Temple of Philae, and the souk of Aswan. Farewell dinner on board with Oriental and Arabic Music.

Day 7: Fly Aswan to Cairo

Enjoy breakfast on board the Nile boat cruise before disembarkation, then you will be Transferred to Aswan airport for your flight back to Cairo, where you will be met and assisted and escorted to your hotel in Cairo for free time at leisure and overnight stay in Cairo.

Day 8: Cairo - Fly Back Home

Breakfast at your hotel in Cairo with free time at leisure and then transfer to Cairo International Airport to fly back home.
