Day 1: Arrive Cairo ‘Welcome to Egypt’

You will be met and assisted on arrival at Cairo International Airport by a Memphis Tours Representative who will accompany you to your Hotel for check-in and a free welcome drink to start your Egypt Family Vacation Package. You will be introduced to your Tour Leader who will explain what to expect throughout your tours and visit and will be your point of contact during the whole trip giving you details of how to contact him at any time whilst in Egypt under the care of Memphis Tours. Throughout your holiday, in addition to the Tour Leader, you will meet a variety of English-speaking Tour Guides who have been chosen for their expertise on each of the areas and sites you will be visiting. After check-in you are free to spend the rest of the day / evening at your leisure. There is an opportunity to do an optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show on the Giza Plateau, by the magnificent Pyramids at Giza.

Day 2: Giza Pyramids and Sakkara

After breakfast, be prepared to experience an amazing full day in Cairo with your Guide to the famous Pyramids beginning with the Djoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara, the first Pyramid built in Egypt and was designed by Imhotep. It is at Saqqara that the first spells for the Pharaoh's afterlife were found. Whilst there, you will also see Teti's pyramid and ancient Tombs. After Saqqara you will travel to Memphis, the ancient Capital of Egypt, to visit the colossal statue of Ramesses II then drive to the famous Giza Plateau to visit the only remaining wonder from the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the Great Pyramid of Khufu (known as Cheops by the Ancient Greeks). Here on the plateau are the Pyramids of Khafre (Chephren) and the smallest one of Menkaure (Mykerinos). The plateau is as famous for the mysterious structure 'the Sphinx' and Pyramids, where you will visit the Valley Temple. Your visit to Giza will include time to do an optional visit to the Solar Boat (Museum) which was the vessel used to carry the Pharaoh’s mummified remains across the Nile before being buried at the foot of the Pyramid for use in his afterlife. After Giza, you will be transferred back to your Hotel for a relaxing overnight stay in Cairo.
Please note: There is an additional charge for entering inside the Pyramids and also the Solar Boat Museum. Please speak with your tour guide should you wish to purchase a ticket to enter one of these sites.

Day 3: Cairo Tours - Sleeper Train to Aswan

Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel in Cairo before being accompanied by your private expert Tour Guide to the world-renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Cairo, built in neo-classical style and designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. A vast collection of over 120,000 artifacts ranging from Pre-Dynastic era, through Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period in Egypt. Amongst the most famous items are the funerary treasures of the child King Tutankhamun, the colossal statues of the heretic King, Akhenaten, and the only surviving image of Khufu, creator of Egypt's Great Pyramid. Visiting the museum is a great introduction and learning experience for children and adults alike to understand ancient Egyptian civilization including their famous art of mummification. Then a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, named after the Kurdish Muslim who became the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria and who was noted for his chivalry. A great fun experience for the children to explore the different museums inside with life size figures depicting ancient battles and wars, tanks and aircrafts from World War 2, with the Citadel overlooking the Muqattam Hills with stunning views across Old Cairo and even the Pyramids.The Mohammed Ali Alabaster Mosque which was built in Turkish style, similar to the Blue Mosque in Turkey, with towering minarets seen from any part of Old Cairo and beyond. Your tour then takes you to the Christian heritage of Old Coptic Cairo and includes early religious monuments such as the Hanging Church named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon becoming the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt. Finally, a visiting the famous Khan el-Khalili Bazaar a souk in the Islamic district of Cairo, and one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. This full day ends with dinner during an overnight trip to Aswan by a Sleeper Train (Private Compartments).

Day 4: Aswan Nile Cruise Tours

Breakfast on the train with sunrise views before arriving in Aswan where you will be met by your Guide for the day beginning with a visit to Aswan High Dam, built in the 1960’s to provide the much needed electricity and irrigation for the country. Nubia,(the area that was flooded), experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has known. Moving on to see the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lies in the granite quarries which provided ancient Egypt with building materials. It was to be the largest piece of stone ever handled, but when a crack appeared, it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angilika Island, to explore Philae Temple, one of the Nubian Temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt. Then you will be transferred and check in to your Nile Cruise Boat.

Day 5: Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples

After a leisurely breakfast onboard your Nile Cruise boat in Aswan, sailing on to visit the unique Temple at Kom Ombo. it is the only ancient temples in Egypt which is divided into two, reflecting its dedication to two Gods Sobek, the Crocodile God of fertility and the falcon-headed Horus, God of the sky. Kom Ombo is also famous for the depictions of surgeon's instruments, giving an early record of medicine and surgery in Ancient Egypt. Afternoon, sailing on to Edfu to the huge Ptolemaic Temple of Horus, the most complete and best preserved of Egyptian Temples consisting of many columns, halls, chambers and chapels. Two statues of Horus flank the twin towered entrance gate and inside, one of the interesting inscriptions lists the titles of books (scrolls) held in the library. The rest of the day is for relaxation aboard the Cruise boat overnight.

Day 6: Luxor Nile Cruise Tours

Relax whilst watching daily life on the banks of the Nile as you sail to Luxor. En route you will pass through the lock at Esna, where local traders will amuse you selling their wares to the passing tourist cruises from rowing boats. On arrival in Luxor you will visit Karnak Temple, the world's largest ancient religious site. The hypostyle hall with its colossal granite columns is one of Egypt’s infamous landmarks. There will be free time to explore the different parts of the huge complex built during the reigns of various Pharaohs. Then moving to Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for rituals and festivals dedicated to the God Amon. An optional evening tour at the Sound and Light show tells the story of Luxor and Karnak. (highly recommended) and fun for the children.

Day 7: Luxor Nile Cruise Excursions

Breakfast is served on board in Luxor before being escorted by your Guide to cross to the West Bank of the Nile to the sites of Ancient Thebes, overall one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Visit the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III (Colossi of Memnon) and the impressive colonnaded and terraced Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri, which was built into a high cliff face and has graphics telling the story of Hatshepsut’s expeditions to the mysterious land of Punt. Then you go to the Valley of the Kings to see a selection of the beautifully decorated rock-cut tombs, many of which still display vibrant colour and breathtaking detail of deities and scenes from the Book of the Underworld.. The most visited tombs have walkways and electric lighting, and the internal walls are protected by glass. A visit to 3 tombs is included. (The three tombs visited are determined by the Egyptian Government as to preserve them from the large flow of visitors, therefore are rotated throughout the year and cannot be confirmed as to which tombs prior to your visit). The rest of the day is free time to spend at leisure in Luxor to experience the City’s culture, then you will be transferred to your Hotel for check-in and overnight stay in Luxor.

Day 8: Fly Luxor to Sharm El Sheikh

After breakfast at the Hotel, transfer to Luxor Airport to fly to Sharm el-Sheikh, one of Egypt’s most popular destinations and resorts for families on the Red Sea. Check-in and received your free welcome drink then free leisure time to relax or explore your surroundings. Now its time for you and your chidren to have some fun and adventure with many exciting activities in Sharm El Sheikh and surrounding areas with many excursion options and variety of nightlife. Overnight stay in Sharm El Sheikh.

Day 9: Sharm El Shiekh Optional Tours

Breakfast at your Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh with free leisure time. There is a wide variety of optional excursions available in Sharm El Sheikh dubbed Egypt 's ‘Garden of Allah’ due to the wealth of colourful underwater life. A Red Sea diving, snorkeling and underwater exploration is a ‘must do’ activity and a simply unforgettable experience. Well-established dive centres will gladly provide you with scuba diving information and arrange courses and daily excursions trip to a selection of many places, from the gigantic coral outcrops of Red Sea to the vertical walls of Ras Mohammed, from the wrecks of Sha'ab Abu Nuhas to the lonely offshore islands of ‘The Brothers’ and ‘Zabargad’.

Day 10: Sharm El Sheikh - Children’s Fun Day

Breakfast at your Hotel, the a fun packed day and evening of optional tours available for children of all ages. Aqua Blu is a huge Aqua Park in Central Sharm El Sheik with every possible type of water slides, pools, sundecks and loungers and food outlets to provide the family with everything they need for a fun ‘splash and relax’ day out. Or how about a revealing insight into the beauty of the underwater life and corals of the Red Sea on a glass bottom boat. The children will be in awe of the amazing varieties of fish, corals, and maybe even Dolphins. An exciting evening awaits the whole family at the ‘1001’ Nights Show. A spectacular evening of about 2 hours where Egyptian history, music and dance comes to life in this colourful vibrant show of traditional culture, lights, holistic re-enactments, horses, whirling dervishers and more. Overnight in Sharm El Sheikh.

Day 11: Sharm El Shiekh Optional Tours

Breakfast at your Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh with free leisure time and optional excursions available in Sharm El Sheikh to the Coloured Canyon, one of Sinai’s natural wonders. Take a walk between the dramatic sandstone canyon walls streaked with yellows, purples, reds, magentas and gold, making you feel as though you are in a spectacular colouring book. In certain places the canyon walls reach up to 40 meters.

Day 12: Sharm El Shiekh Optional Tours

Breakfast at your Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh with free leisure time and optional excursions available in Sharm El Sheikh to The Monastery of St. Catherine which lies at the foot of the Gebel Musa, or Mount Moses, in the heart of the South Sinai. Fronted by gardens and cypress trees, the Monastery is owned and run by the Greek Orthodox Church. It is rich library houses one of the world's largest collections of illuminated manuscripts, coming second only to the Vatican. You can see where the Burning Bush is reputed to have grown and a large number of antique works of art including invaluable icons, beautifully carved doors, exquisite wall paintings and other fine religious ornaments.

Day 13: Sharm El Sheikh - Cairo - Fly Back Home
