Day 1: Arrive Cairo ‘Welcome to Egypt’

Upon your arrival to Cairo International Airport, you will be met by your Memphis Tours Representative who will accompany you to your hotel in Cairo for check-in and a free welcome drink to start your White Desert Tour. There you will be introduced to your Tour Manager for the trip, who will explain what to expect on your visit and will be your point of contact throughout the whole trip. He and will give you details of how to contact him at any time whilst in Egypt under the care of Memphis Tours. Throughout your holiday, in addition to the Tour Manager you will meet a variety of English-speaking Tour Guides, who have been chosen for their expertise on each of the areas you are visiting. After check-in you are free to spend the rest of the day/evening at your leisure. There is a wonderful opportunity to do an optional excursion to the Sound & Light Show on Giza Plateau, by the magnificent Pyramids.

Day 2: Pyramids and Cairo Sightseeing

After breakfast at your Hotel in Cairo, you will be accompanied by your own private Egyptologist Tour Guide to visit the famous Giza Plateau, home of Egypt’s greatest attractions the Great Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World including the Great Pyramid of Cheops, Middle Pyramids of Chephren smallest Pyramid of Mykerinos and the Mysterious Sphinx, the Father of Terror to the ancient Pharaohs.The tour includes visit to the Valley Temple facing the great Sphinx. On the way you will have Lunch, then enjoy a visit to the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiques built in neo-classical style designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon which exhibits a collection now of over 120000 masterpieces ranging from Pre-Dynastic era, Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period in Egypt, learn and discover the great Egyptian civilization and art of mummification in ancient Egypt. Moving on to visit the Christian heritage in Coptic Cairo including some of the early religious monuments of the city such as the Hanging Church or the Suspended Church, this Basilica Church was named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon The Church became the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt Afterwards an enjoyable afternoon of shopping at the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar and Old Market in Cairo.

Day 3: Cairo - Alexandria Sightseeing

Picked up from your hotel in Cairo by your private experienced Egyptologist Tour Guide and driver to travel to Alexandria, located 220km Northwest on the Mediterranean coast. A stunning and scenic full day tour to experience the highlights of Ancient Greco- Roman Alexandria visiting the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoukafa and the Royal Cemetery of Kom El-shoqafa,a historical archaeological site and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. Pompey's Pillar, a Roman triumphal column, is one of the best-known ancient monuments still standing in Alexandria today, and it is the last of the remaining relics of the Seraphium. The Pillar was erected in honor of Emperor Diocletian. Lunch will be served at good quality restaurant during the day then you will continue on to visit the Citadel of Qaitbey, built on the ruins of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qaitbay. You will visit the large and famous Alexandria Library, reconstructed by building the new library in Selsela at Shatby Which is beside the conference centre. The library is one of the greatest cultural and scientific centres that specialize in the affairs of, literature, civilization, sciences and arts of the area so this attract scholars from all over the world. Overnight in Alexandria.

Day 4: El Alamein and Siwa Oasis.

Drive early morning from Alex to El Alamein where we will visit the World War II Cemeteries, battle sites and Museums dedicated to the thousands of soldiers killed from many countries including England, Germany, Italy, Greece, Australia and more. A drive on to Marsa Matrouh where Rommel, the German Tank Commander made his base during the conflict of World War II. Here we will have lunch before driving to Siwa Oasis and overnight Hotel camp on half board basis.

Day 5: Siwa Oasis - Bier Wahed

Starting the day with a Drive at 8am around the Siwa Oasis to visit Alexander crowning Temple, Amon Temple, Gabel El Maouta and Cleopatra’s Bath. Siwa is a fascinating small town with the ‘Mountain of the Dead’, a mountain which contained many tombs surrounding the base and was famous for being known as the place of the oracle. It was said that here, Alexander the Great was crowned by the oracle as being the new Pharaoh believer of God Amon that time. Back to restaurant where we take lunch. After refreshments, a drive off-road to visit Bier Wahed and the great sand sea (known for its immense sand dunes), then back to the Hotel where we spend the night on half board basis.

Day 6: Baharia Oasis

Driving East to the fascinating scenery of the Western Desert and the Oasis of Bahariya. (400 km). A picnic lunch at midday on the road before arriving at Bahariya Oasis. Check in for an overnight Hotel camp on half board basis.

Day 7: Bahariya Oasis, and White Desert

Starting the day in Bahariya at the Museum of the Golden Mummies, Bunintui Tomb and Zed Amon Tomb (Old tombs related to the Greco-roman period and dedicated to the 26 dynasty), Meftela (2 old Temples dedicated to the 26 dynasty), salty lake and the surrounding fruit trees and the British Mountain (the highest observation point of the oasis used by the British during World War II).Then drive to El Heiz where we prepare our lunch, then drive to the Crystal Mountain and White Desert to spend the night in a tent encampment.

Day 8: New and Old White Deserts - Wadi Hetan

After breakfast, a drive to visit the Old and New White Deserts with an outstanding vision of rock formations formed over wind and time. Drive back to Bahariya for lunch and refreshments then drive continue to Wadi Hitan ( Valley of the Whales ) and overnight on full board basis.

Day 9: Wadi Hetan - Wadi Rayan - Cairo

Driving on to Wadi Hetan where you will discover the most beautiful fossils of ancient fish and even whales vertebrae and bones which were determined by paleontologists to have been land based mammals before the seas then to Wadi Rayan Water Falls and the 2 big lakes forming the water falls in between. Heading back to Cairo after lunch to check in to your Hotel.

Day 10: Fly Cairo to Aswan - Nile Cruise Tours

After breakfast you will take the flight to Aswan, where you will be met by your Guide for the day. You will begin by visiting the Aswan High Dam which was built in the 1960’s to provide the much needed electricity and irrigation for the country. Nubia, the area that was flooded, experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has ever known. Then you will visit the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lies in the Granite Quarries which provided ancient Egypt with building materials. It would have been the largest piece of stone ever handled but when a crack was discovered it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angilika Island, to see the Temple of Isis at Philae which is one of the Nubian temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers and reliefs which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt. Then you will be transferred to your Nile cruise ship.

Day 11: Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples

After enjoying breakfast onboard your cruise ship in Aswan, you will sail to see the unique Temple at Kom Ombo. Of all the ancient temples in Egypt, this is the only one which is divided into two, reflecting it’s dedication to two Gods: Sobek, the Crocodile God of fertility; and the falcon-headed Horus, God of the sky. Kom Ombo is also famous for the depictions of surgeon's instruments, giving us an early record of medicine and surgery in Ancient Egypt. In the afternoon sailing on to visit the huge Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, which is the most complete and best preserved of the Egyptian Temples, consisting of many columns, halls, chambers and chapels. Two statues of Horus flank the twin towered entrance gate; and inside, one of the interesting inscriptions lists the titles of books (scrolls) held in the library. The rest of the day is spent at leisure and overnight on board.

Day 12: Luxor Nile Cruise Adventure

After breakfast your Tour Guide will take you on an informative and historical trip to the West Bank of the Nile River in Luxor to visit the two enormous and impressive Colossi of Memnon the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III then a journey into ancient Egyptian history at the Valley of the Kings, where the magnificent Tombs were discovered including the famous boy King Tutankhamun. These Tombs were carved deep into the desert rock,richly decorated and filled with treasures from the afterlife of the Pharaohs and include a visit 3 Tombs, (The three tombs visited are determined by the Egyptian Government as to preserve them from the large flow of visitors, therefore are rotated throughout the year and cannot be confirmed as to which tombs prior to your visit). Then you will continue your tour to Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary. This impressive Temple was dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut the only female Pharaoh, rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs. For the rest of the day you will have free time to spend at leisure in Luxor City to experience the culture and traditions of Upper Egypt. Overnight Luxor.

Day 13: Luxor - Cairo - Fly Back Home

After breakfast, your Tour Guide will escort you to visit the magnificent Karnak Temple the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means ‘The Most Sacred of Places’. The Temple or more correctly, the complex of Temples, was built over more than two thousand years ago by generation after generation of Pharaohs. Within the complex, the great ‘Hypostyle Hall’ is an incredible forest of giant pillars. Then moving to Luxor Temple (built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for ritual and festivals that was dedicated to the god Amon) once linked to Karnak by the ‘Avenue of Sphinx’, currently being restored). Luxor was once the capital of Egypt, known as Thebes, and you will get a real insight to the history here. Then you will be transferred to Luxor airport for the internal flight to cairo for your final departure
