Day 1: Welcome to Cairo Egypt

You will be met at Cairo International Airport by Memphis Tours Representative, who will accompany you to your Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa in Cairo for check-in and a free welcome drink. There you will be introduced to your Tour Leader for the trip, who will explain what to expect on your visit. Your Tour Leader will be your point of contact throughout the whole trip, and will give you details of how to contact him at any time whilst in Egypt under the care of Memphis Tours. Throughout your holiday, in addition to the tour leader you will meet a variety of English-speaking expert Tour Guides, chosen for their expertise on each of the areas you are visiting. After check-in you are free to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. In the evening,there is an Optional Tour to watch the ‘Sound and Light Show’ at the Pyramids, telling the history of these ancient colossal structures. Evening to relax at your Hotel with overnight stay.

Day 2: Cairo and Pyramids Tour

After a delightful breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, your expert English speaking Tour Guide will collect you for a full day of exciting and world renowned sites starting with the famous Giza Plateau, home of Egypt’s greatest attractions to visit The Great Pyramids, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world including the Great Pyramid of Cheops, middle pyramids of Khephren and the little one of Mykerinos and The Mysterious Sphinx, the Father of Terror for the ancient pharaohs, this tour includes visit to the Valley Temple facing the great Sphinx.
Lunch will be provided at a good quality restaurant then you will enjoy a visit to the world-renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities that was built in neo-classical style designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon which exhibits a collection now over 120000 masterpieces ranges from pre-dynastic era, Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period in Egypt, learn about the great Egyptian civilization and the mummification art in ancient Egypt. Afterwards enjoy a shopping tour at the Khan El Khalili famous Old Bazaar where you can browse and purchase the wonderful array of hand crafted Egyptian souvenirs and gifts. You will be transferred to your Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Fly to Luxor - Legacy Nile Cruise

On arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be met and assisted by a Memphis Tours representative then transferred by air conditioned vehicle to Your Steigenberger Legacy Nile Cruise for embarkation and check in. Once settled in you will enjoy a welcome drink and around 16.00pm, start sailing along the Nile towards the Lock at Esna. Enjoy and relax with your delightful views along the Nile with afternoon tea served on the sundeck. Evening dinner onboard and docking overnight near Esna.

Day 4: Edfu Temple and Kom Ombo Temples

Enjoy your lovely breakfast onboard whilst sailing for an early arrival at Edfu. Once arrived, your expert English speaking Tour Guide will escort you to visit the Temple of Edfu. An awe inspiring Temple dedicated to the God Horus (falcon headed God) and one of the best preserved Temples along the Nile. Following this,lunch and afternoon tea on board whilst sailing on to arrive at Kom Ombo Temple. Your Tour Guide will tell you the story of the Temple (the only Temple in Egypt dedicated to two Gods) Sobek the God of fertility, and Haroeis, the Falcon Headed God known as Horus the Elder. Dinner onboard in the evening whilst docking overnight near Kom Ombo.

Day 5: Aswan Nile Cruise Tours

Today, after breakfast, will be a full day of tours with your Guide starting with the High Dam,built in the 1960’s to provide the much needed electricity and irrigation for the country. Nubia, the area that was flooded, experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has ever known.
Then a visit to see the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lies in the granite quarries which provided ancient Egypt with building materials. It would have been the largest piece of stone ever handled but when a crack was discovered it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angilika Island, to see Philae Temple which is one of the Nubian Temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers and reliefs which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt. Back to your cruise for lunch, then an afternoon visit across the Nile on a Felucca boat to spend a relaxing stroll through Lord Kitcheners Botanical Gardens. The Gardens were a gift to General Lord Kitchener by Egypt for his efforts during the 1st World War. Finally back to your Nile Cruise for evening dinner. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 6: Optional Abu Simbel Tour - Sail to Esna

Today is a free day to choose your own itinerary. Highly recommended is the optional early morning tour to Abu Simbel Temples on Lake Nasser. The great Temple of Ramses II (the Pharaoh known as the ‘Great Builder’) is the 2nd most visited site after the Great Pyramids in Giza. Choose to fly or take the air conditioned bus. There are also many other optional tours in and around lovely colourful Nubian Aswan such as the Nubian Villages, Nubian Museum,Aswan Market, Bird Watching or Camel ride to St Simeons Monastery. Lunch and afternoon tea on board then sailing towards Esna passing under the large structure of the Aswan Bridge known as the ‘ Gateway to Nubia’. Overnight docking and dinner on board near Esna.

Day 7: Luxor Nile Cruise Excursions

Early sail to Luxor while enjoying breakfast on board. Once arrived in Luxor, your Tour Guide will accompany for a fascinating exploration of Luxor’s famous Temples Starting with Karnak Temple, the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means ‘The Most Sacred of Places’. The Temple or more correctly, the complex of Temples, was built over more than two thousand years ago by generation after generation of Pharaohs. Within the complex, the great ‘Hypostyle Hall’ is an incredible forest of giant pillars. Next on to nearby Luxor Temple (the two Temples were once linked by the ‘Avenue of Sphinx’ which is currently being reconstructed).On to the majestic Luxor Temple which was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for ritual and festivals and dedicated to the God Amun. Evening to relax onboard or take an optional tour of the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple, or a Kallesh ride (horse and carriage) into Luxor City and Market Overnight on your Nile Cruise.

Day 8: Luxor Nile Cruise Tours

A lovely relaxing morning after breakfast with free time to either explore Luxor City or take an early morning optional Balloon Ride at sunrise over the famous Valley of the Kings. A once in a lifetime thrill which is truly unmissable!
Lunch on board before being escorted by your Tour Guide to visit what is considered the world’s largest ‘open air museum’, that of the Valley of the Kings.Visit the two enormous and impressive Colossi of Memnon the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III then a journey into ancient Egyptian history as the Valley of the Kings (the Royal Cemetery where the magnificent Tombs were discovered including the famous boy King Tutankhamun.Carved deep into the desert rock,richly decorated and filled with treasures from the afterlife of the Pharaohs.Then you will continue your tour to Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary. This impressive Temple was dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut the only female Pharaoh, rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs. Back to your Nile Cruise for an overnight stay in Luxor.

Day 9: Sail to Denderah Temple

Breakfast on board and sailing on to Dendera for your Guided tour of Dendera Temple. dedicated to Goddess Hathor- cow headed woman and known as the Goddess of Love. This temple dates back to 125 B.C and it is quite unique because of the fact that the roof is still intact and visitors can admire the beautiful ceiling which depicts the hours of the day and night as well as the journey of the sun, moon and the stars across the sky. One of its ceilings is decorated with a plaster cast of the signs of the zodiac. Not only that but this temple has the only relief which represented Queen Cleopatra and her son Caesarean. Sail back to Luxor with afternoon tea and dinner on board. Overnight in Luxor with free leisure time for optional tours.

Day 10: Fly Luxor to Cairo - Fly Back Home

Breakfast on board before disembarking your Nile Cruise Boat for a transfer to Luxor Airport where you will fly to Cairo for your return flight home.
