Day 1: Arrive Cairo ‘Welcome to Egypt’

Welcome to Egypt. On arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met and assisted by one of our Memphis Tours Representatives and escorted by air conditioned vehicle to you Hotel in Cairo. Once checked in, your Representative will inform you of the expected itinerary during your Egypt Pyramids and Nubians Exploration. Through all tours you will have expert English speaking Tour Guides who are happy and able to answer any questions you may have. Time to relax overnight in Cairo with an optional tour of the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids at Giza. Please ask your Representative if you require tickets. Overnight Cairo.

Day 2: Cairo Sightseeing Tours

After breakfast at your Hotel, your expert English speaking Tour Guide will escort you to the world renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Cairo, built in neo-classical style and designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. The museum's vast collection of over 120,000 artifacts ranges from pre-dynastic era, through the Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period of Egypt. Then you will be transferred to Old Coptic and Islamic Cairo to see the sights of the old Christian Churches and islamic mosques famed in this part of the City. Firstly to the Coptic district to explore the ‘Hanging Church’ (known as the Suspended Church because it was built on the southern gate of the Roman Fortress. Logs of palm trees and layers of stones were constructed above the ruins of the Roman fortress to be used as a fundament and also has a unique wooden roof in the shape of Noah’s Ark). The Church became the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt.The on to explore the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George,erected upon the northern tower of the Fortress of Babylon which can be reached through a flight of stairs and crowned by an impressive dome. Then on to the Islamic District to walk through the old streets where the oldest and most famous Mosques of Cairo are situated. Firstly the Al-Azhar Mosque, founded in 970, and one of Cairo's oldest mosques. Then to Al-Hakim Mosque One of the largest Fatimid mosques in Cairo,decreed in 990 by the famously eccentric caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah who, among other things, prohibited eating grapes or playing chess.In the past, the Mosque had been used as a prison, a warehouse and an elementary school. Lunch will be served during the day at a quality restaurant in Cairo. Back to your Hotel for overnight in Cairo.

Day 3: Fly Cairo to Aswan - Nubian Tour

Early breakfast then a transfer with your representative to Cairo Airport (Domestic Terminal) to fly to Aswan. On arrival at Aswan, you will be met by a Representative and taken to Anakato Nubian Guest House on the West Bank of Aswan. relax and settle in before a lovely barbecue lunch In the afternoon you will be taken to the vibrant Nubian Museum to discover the culture and traditions of the Nubians with many fascinating artifacts and stories about their life and history. The rest of the day and evening at leisure to explore the City of Aswan or wander freely along the West bank and through the delightful and colourful Nubian villages with friendly locals and brightly painted homes representing their culture. Overnight stay at the Guest house.

Day 4: Kalabsha and Philae Temples Tour

Today, another interesting insight into Nubian history after breakfast with a tour of 2 Temples. Firstly a Visit Kalabsha Temple, built by Tutmosis II and restored during the Roman conquest. Then on to Philae Temple, a Nubian Temple begun by Ptolemy II and completed by the Roman Emperors. Often being described as the setting of a Shakespearian tragedy due to it’s dramatic history of the inhabitants with the God Osiris murdered by his brother Seth and Isis searching for fragments of the body collecting them together and using her magic powers brings Osiris back to life ( and this is only part of the story!). Back to the Guest House for a while to relax, then later a guided tour of the delightful Aswan Market ( Souk) where you can smell the lovely aromas of the incense, spices and colourful Nubian gifts and souvenirs. Stopping at a local Coffee Shop for Egyptian Tea and Shisha pipe ( hubbly bubbly). Back to the Guest House for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 5: St. Simeon’s - Tea at Old Cataract Hotel

After breakfast, a nice day exploring the Christian Coptic Monastery of Saint Simeon by camel ride up to the sandy peak where the Monastery lies. Preserved since from the 6th century, it is one of the largest Coptic monasteries in the world. Due to water shortages, it was abandoned and left untouched for many years.
From the top of the Monastery, you can gaze down at the views from the top of the hill over to Aswan City, the desert, and appreciate the wonders of nature and life. After the return down to the River Nile, you will be treated to a lovely local lunch at El dokka Restaurant on the Cataract Islands, home for a while, then later off to the famous Old Cataract Hotel ( where Agatha Christie wrote ‘Death on the Nile’) for a typical English high tea while watching the sunset over the beautiful Nile and islands. overnight at the Guest House.

Day 6: Tombs of the Nobles Tour

Breakfast then a morning of relaxation around the Nubian villages or free time to explore. In the afternoon, your Guide will take you to visit the ‘Tombs of the Nobles’, situated on the West bank in the granite cliffs. They are of significant ‎importance surrounding the history of ‎Egypt during the Old and the Middle Kingdoms ' periods. ‎The British archeologist, the Lord Greenville discovered the Tombs of the Nobles in ‎the period between 1885 and 1886 to be the first scientist to explore this important ‎historical site. The Tombs of the Nobles located in Aswan is usually called the tombs of ‘Qubat El ‎Hawa’ Evening time to relax. Overnight in your Guest house.

Day 7: Felucca Sailing around Cataract Islands

After breakfast, your Guide will take you on a lovely water tour on a traditional ‘Felucca’ sail boat around the Cataract islands, passing such landmarks as Elephantine Island, The Old Cataract hotel, and the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan ( where once a year, his wife places a red rose at the entrance in memory of him). Then a stop off at kitchener’s Botanical garden island. the Island was named after Lord kitchener, the British General from world War one for his contribution to Egypt. back to the Guest House for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Fly Aswan to Cairo - Pyramids Tour

After breakfast, an early departure from Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo where you will be met and assisted the your Tour Guide will take you on a final tour of the Ancient Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza. Sakkara was the first Pyramid ever built in Egypt followed by the Step Pyramid of King Djoser and the Teti Pyramid. After Sakkara, you will travel to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, to visit the Colossal statue of Ramses II. Then on to explore the Giza Plateau to see the Great Pyramids of Giza, Great Pyramid of Cheops, Middle pyramids of Chephren and the smallest Pyramid of Mykerinos. Included will be a visit to the mysterious Sphinx and the Valley Temple with an optional visit to the Solar Boat Museum to admire the boat that was used to carry the Pharaoh’s mummified corpse across the Nile then buried at the foot of the Pyramid for his use in the afterlife. Lunch is provided during the day at a quality restaurant. Overnight at a Cairo Hotel.

Day 9: Cairo - Fly Back Home

After breakfast at your Hotel, you will be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
