Day 1: Fly London to Cairo - Welcome to Egypt

Fly London to Cairo. Welcome to Egypt. On arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be greeted by one of our Memphis Tours Representatives and escorted by air conditioned vehicle to your Hotel in Cairo. Welcome drink on arrival and your Representative will assist you with check - in and explain your Cairo and Nile Cruise Package itinerary over the coming days. Overnight in Cairo with time to relax. There is an optional tour of the ‘Sound and Light Show’ at the Pyramids.

Day 2: Egypt Pyramids and Cairo Tours

After breakfast, your private Tour Guide will accompany you for a day tour in Cairo to visit the famous Pyramids in the area. you will begin with the famous Giza Plateau to visit the only remaining wonder from the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the Great Pyramid of Khufu (called Cheops by the Ancient Greeks). Also on the plateau are the pyramids of Khafre (Chephren) and the smallest Pyramid Menkaure (Mykerinos). The plateau is as famous for the mysterious structure 'the Sphinx' as it is for the Pyramids, where you will visit the Valley Temple. Then you will visit the world-renowned Egyptian Museum in Cairo that was built in neo-classical style and designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. The museum's vast collection of over 120,000 artifacts ranges from pre-dynastic era, through the Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period of Egypt. Amongst the most famous items which you may see are the funerary treasures of the child King Tutankhamun, the colossal statues of the heretic king, Akhenaten, and the only surviving image of Khufu, creator of Egypt's Great Pyramid. Visiting the Egyptian Museum is a great introduction to learning about the ancient Egyptian civilization, including their famous art of mummification. Continue your tour to the Christian heritage in Coptic Cairo, including some of the early religious monuments of the city such as the Hanging Church. This basilica Church was named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon and became the centre of the Christian Church of Egypt. You will visit also the famous Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, a major Souk in the Islamic district of Cairo, the bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. Day 3: Fly Cairo to Luxor - Nile Cruise Tours

Early breakfast in the Hotel, then you will be transferred to Cairo Airport ( Domestic terminal) for your flight to Luxor. On arrival in Luxor, you will be met by tour Representative and introduced to your Tour Guide who will then escort you on a fascinating morning tour of the West Bank in Luxor. starting with the Temples of Karnak and Luxor on the East Bank of the Nile. Starting at the magnificent Karnak Temple the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name Ipet-isut means ‘The Most Sacred of Places’. The Temple or more correctly, the complex of Temples, was built over more than two thousand years ago by generation after generation of Pharaohs. Within the complex, the great ‘Hypostyle Hall’ is an incredible forest of giant pillars. Next on to nearby Luxor Temple (the two Temples were once linked by the ‘Avenue of Sphinx’ which is currently being reconstructed).Then continue the tour to visit the majestic Luxor Temple which was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for ritual and festivals and dedicated to the God Amun. Following this, you will return to the Boat for lunch then rest of the day to relax, or discover the City of Luxor or an optional tour to ‘Howard Carter House’ on the West Bank. Then you will be take to check in to your 5 Star Nile cruise for a relaxing lunch and afternoon tea on board. An excellent evening is to be had at the optional ‘Sound and Light Show’ at Karnak Temple. A wonderful re-enactment of the history of Luxor ( the old capital of Thebes), and the Temples. Overnight on the boat. Free time if you wish to explore the traditional City of Luxor.

Day 4: Luxor Nile Cruise Tour - Sail to Edfu

Morning breakfast on board your Nile Cruise before being escorted with your Tour Guide to visit the two enormous and impressive Colossi of Memnon the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III then a journey into ancient Egyptian history at the Valley of the Kings, where the magnificent Tombs were discovered including the famous boy King Tutankhamun. These Tombs were carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures from the afterlife of the Pharaohs and include a visit 3 Tombs. Then you will continue your tour to Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary. This impressive Temple was dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut the only female Pharaoh, rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs. ( The three tombs visited are determined by the Egyptian Government as to preserve them from the large flow of visitors, therefore are rotated throughout the year and cannot be confirmed as to which tombs prior to your visit ). Once the tour is completed, you will return to the cruise boat for lunch and sailing on to Edfu via the Lock at Esna, a large lock in which all of the Nile Cruises have to pass through. You will be entertained here by the local men in small boats throwing their wares for sale to the passengers on the boats. Afternoon tea on board, then on to dock overnight at Edfu with dinner.

Day 5: Nile Cruise Shore Excursions

After breakfast on board, you will disembark with your Tour Guide to visit Edfu Temple. An awe inspiring Temple dedicated to the God Horus (falcon headed God) and one of the best preserved Temples along the Nile. Following this, lunch on board your Nile cruise boat and afternoon tea whilst sailing on towards Kom Ombo. Once arrived, you will indulge in an interesting tour with your Guide,of the Temple of Kom Ombo, famous home of the two Gods Sobek ( the crocodile God of fertility), and the falcon God Haroeris, also known as Horus the Elder, (the Good Sister, a special form of Hathor). Sailing along on your Nile journey to Aswan under the spectacular Aswan Bridge, Gateway to Nubia and Aswan City and see the wonderful sandstone rocks illuminating the ‘Tombs of the Nobles’ dating back to the Middle Kingdom. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 6: Aswan Nile Cruise Tours

Another exciting day awaits you after breakfast on board the Nile cruise vessel where you will be escorted by your Egyptologist tour guide in Aswan for an amazing tour to visit the High Dam, built in the 1960’s to provide the much needed electricity and irrigation for the country. Nubia, the area that was flooded, experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has ever known. Then a visit to see the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lies in the granite quarries which provided ancient Egypt with building materials. It would have been the largest piece of stone ever handled but when a crack was discovered it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angilika Island, to see Philae Temple which is one of the Nubian Temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers and reliefs which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt. Dinner with overnight stay on board your Nile Cruise in Aswan with time to explore the city independently or with an optional tour and Guide. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 7: Aswan to Abu Simbel Optional Tours

After breakfast on board your Nile Cruise, you will disembark and be taken with your Guide to check into a 5 star hotel in Aswan with free time to explore Aswan City and it’s colourful incense and spice market. Highly recommended is the optional tour to the Abu Simbel Temples. Driving from Aswan to Abu Simbel by a private air-conditioned vehicle. Arrive at Abu Simbel on Lake Nasser to be in awe of the huge structure of the Temple of Ramses II, dedicated to the four universal Gods Ptah, Re-Harakhte, Amun-Re, and to Ramesses II. The second temple is dedicated to the beloved wife of Ramesses, Nefertari. Other optional tours are available in Aswan such as the Nubian Museum, Nibian Villages, St. Simeon’s monastery, Kitchener’s Island, Tombs of the Nobles, and Aswan Market. Overnight stay at your hotel in Aswan.

Day 8: Aswan - Cairo Airport - Fly Back to London

After breakfast at your hotel in Aswan, you will check out and transferred to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo to connect with your flight to London UK.
